Why is anchoring hardware for brackets NOT included?
Depending on your location and the type of surface, different anchoring bolts will be required. Also, depending on your location and build there may be local building requirements that need to be adhered to.
Why is lumber for brackets NOT included? And what is the best type of lumber to use?
The main reason lumber is not included is shipping wood is extremely expensive and most populations will have access to local stores that sell wood. The best type of wood to use is impregnated dry and straight lumber, in the correct cut, you choose for your build.Do keep in mind some wood such as pressure treated retains a lot more moisture and sap and can take some amount of time to dry out completely, but it will definitely extend longevity.
My lumber is not fitting in the brackets, why?
Our 100x100mm brackets accommodate dressed lumber, best used for 95x95mm wood. Bracket size Inside (interior) is 94mm x 94mm, so we recommend to sand the tip of 95x95mm lumber a little bit, so it fits perfectly, so that bracket is properly used. In some cases even 95x95mm lumber fits perfectly, it depends where you get your wood. Our 150x150mm brackets accommodate dressed lumber, best used for 145x145mm wood. Bracket size Inside (interior) is 144mm x 144mm, so we recommend to sand the tip of 145x145mm lumber a little bit, so it fits perfectly, so that bracket is properly used. In some cases even 145x145mm lumber fits perfectly, it depends where you get your wood.
What is the recommended maximum wood span?
We do not recommend exceeding 3,8m lumber length for either the width or depth of any single pergola section. We also do not recommend to exceed lumber height 2,4m for your vertical posts. For any build outside of scope from our kit and product offerings we recommend speaking with an engineer.
Are there special shade care instructions?
Remove your SHADE SAIL in winds of 50km+, bad storms and winter months (where applicable).
Before storing for the off season wash your shade using a mild detergent and soft brush, rinse and allow to dry. If storing inside the home including a finished basement a storage bag is usually sufficient. However, if storing in a garage, shed or unfinished basement we recommend storing in an airtight container to keep out moisture, bugs and other critters.
